Enrolment process

  1. Phone or visit the school to express interest in enrolling your child. If you have questions about the school, the office will arrange for the Principal to contact you via phone for a discussion.
  2. The office will arrange for you to collect an enrolment pack, which includes the required forms.
  3. Return enrolment application and (if applicable) supporting forms, and required documents (as mentioned above). The office will then arrange an enrolment meeting with the Principal. Note that for out of catchment applications, the return of forms does not guarantee an enrolment for your child. Enrolment meetings are usually held on a Monday between 2pm and 4pm.
  4. At the meeting with the principal (or other member of the leadership team), you will be provided with information about our school. You will also have the opportunity to provide information about your child/children as well as clarify any concerns that you may have.
  5. The principal will usually contact your child's previous school. The principal may (with your consent) also contact any other agencies that have a connection with your child. This will assist in successfully transitioning your child to our school. The more information we have the easier it is for the teacher to provide appropriate and timely learning programs.
  6. The date of your child’s first day at Meringandan State School will be discussed and timetabled either for the next day or a day the parent/carer identifies.  It is expected that students will attend their first day at our school wearing the Meringandan State School uniform.
  7. On your child’s first day please come to the school office at 8.30am with your child and a staff member will escort you to his/her class.
